7 Simple Men’s Body Care Tips

By | March 16, 2019

Caring about how your body looks or how your skin feels is just as important as taking care of your overall health.

Most men see body grooming and skincare as something they don’t need and not a very masculine thing in general. The truth is, caring about how your body looks or how your skin feels is just as important as taking care of your overall health. It’s a relatively small part of your overall appearance but if you start practicing these body grooming tips, you’ll be well on your way of looking better than before. So, with that said, first, you should:

1. Invest in a decent grooming kit

If until now you’ve been getting away with using a second rate razor and got used to skin cuts and irritation – start there first. A quality men’s grooming kit means quality over quantity. It’s worth spending a little more on something that’s going to take care of your skin and will last you longer than a year. Shaving and taking care of your body directly affect your appearance and hygiene – don’t neglect it.

2. Wash your face daily

Did you know something as simple as washing your face daily can help in maintaining a smooth skin by clearing away any zits and pimples? Wash your face with warm (not hot) water for a healthier overall skin (not just face). Ideally, if you do it after exercising, that’s even better. Exercise in itself is a great way to stay in shape and improve your appearance as well. Daily facial washing removes any unwanted oil and bacteria and helps give your face a fresh look.

3. Know your lotions

Our skin is the biggest organ we have but it’s also often the most neglected one. It’s the most visible one too. It’s important we look after it and start caring about how we present ourselves to the outer world. When looking at lotions, you need to take into consideration what’s inside (try to avoid paraben, alcohol, etc.) your skin type (dry, oily, etc.) and the body lotion types. It might seem intimidating first but when you figure out what you’re looking for, you can try out a number of lotions and see how your body reacts accordingly.

4. Watch what you eat

You are what you eat. Did you know what you eat has a direct effect on your skin? A basic skincare regime can go a long way in helping men maintain a healthy looking, problem-free skin. When it comes to diet, you can’t go wrong with adding fresh fruit, veggies, and other superfoods that are all natural and healthy. In return, try to avoid junk food in general, alcohol abuse and smoking – which harm your skin in addition to your health. As a rule of thumb, the more colorful your meal looks, probably the better it is for your skin.

5. Sunscreen

To help prevent sun damage that can lead to wrinkles and age spots, you might want to consider using sunscreen daily – especially if you live in a hotter region. Apply sunscreen to all exposed areas such as your skin, scalp, ears, neck, and even lips for best protection. If you want to take it a step further, you can also protect your skin by wearing shades and other protective clothing. Remember, every man’s skin is different, but sunscreen is a good general way to look after your skin, whether you’re going on a holiday or live in the city.

6. Drink more water

This one is probably the most straightforward step in this guide but also one of the most effective ones. Your body (and skin) needs about 1.5-2.5 liters of water per day. This is about eight to ten large glasses of water. Why? Dehydration makes your skin flaky and sore. Don’t wait until you’re feeling thirsty to drink some more water, because, chances are, you’re not drinking the recommended amount of water per day (most people aren’t)! The bottom line is that drinking more water has been reported to give your skin a more radiant glow – so, it’s better to start now.

7. Consider supplements

Finally, if you’re deficient in Vitamin A, the upper layers of your skin start to produce too much keratin (that makes your skin rough and scaly). You can get your daily Vitamin A from sources like meat, dairy products, carrots, and other vegetables. But aside from food, there are many other skin care vitamins you can consider taking to fight back against aging and wrinkles. All in all, though, be sure to consider all these 7 beauty tips for your better overall skin care and start adopting them in your immediate life to see results now!
